Evolving from the V4, the new Wing Ding V5 see an increase in power and stability, which further improves handling and control. The use of a new material from Dimension Polyant for the leading edge section, and increased central draft, combined with the new one-piece boom create stiffness and efficiency only felt in far more expensive materials.

Our latest rendition is further refining what was already the most responsive and neutral wing on the market: tension combined with leech release, which improves wind range and control yet again. Except this time, there's more power, control and rigidity.

More Information

For the most part, the new V5 uses the same high-performance Code-Tec fabrics as its predecessor. Although slightly heavier than more exotic materials, the tough and durable canopy doesn't stretch, offering a responsive, crisp feeling with a much superior life span, ensuring the wings aren't bagged out after a season or two.

We've also kept the slightly lighter, more breathable Code-Tec fabric near the leading edge to help generate power and allow the wing to breathe.

However, we've added a new high-performance Dimension Polyant UPE material to the central panels of the leading edge, which stiffens the entire wing, and particularly the strut, without any extra weight.

Geometry-wise, the new V5 features a more pronounced central draft, which translates to more power to get going. The wing tips remain flat, and with the skin tension, provide increased stability.

The stress loading panel orientation is carried-over, as it certainly help minimize stretch both in the moment and over time.

We've decided to completely ditch the handles and go for a one-piece carbon boom: extra freedom of hand movement in tacks, jibes and tricks, easier placement of harness lines, but also the additional rigidity it brings to the strut make the wing feel lighter in your hands.

DP UPE Leading Edge

New Dimension Polyant UPE fabric is added to the central panels of the leading edge, which stiffens the wing, while reducing weight.

Code-Tec Canopy

High-performance Code-Tec fabrics are used for a tough and durable canopy that doesn't stretch.

Stress Panel Optimization Loading

Panel orientation and alignment of fibers in the canopy and at key points help the wing retain its shape, both in the moment and over time.

Increased Central Draft

More pronounced central draft, which translates to more low-end power to get going.

Flat Wing Tips

The wing tips remain flat, and with the skin tension, provide increased stability.

Tension that Breathes

Canopy tension combined with a looser leech creates tension that breathes: rigid, crisp sensation for a wing that's smooth, quiet and quick to react on the water.

POWER

Increased Central Draft

Compared to the previous model, the deeper center draft of the new V5 (in blue on the sketch) efficiently provides more low-end power and improves overall wing stability without increasing drag.

DURABILITY

Panel Orientation

The panel orientation and alignment of fibers in the canopy and at key strut connection points combine to help the wing retain its shape, both in the moment and over time, reducing fabric stretching.

ERGONOMICS

Carbon Boom

They are supplied with a fixed carbon boom, which offers a very direct feel while simplifying transitions and tricks due to freedom of hand movement. And combined with the DP UPE fabric on the leading edge, it makes the whole wing feel extra stiff.

Flight Characteristics

By combining canopy tension with a looser leech, we've created a paradox of tension that breathes: a rigid, crisp sensation for a wing that's smooth, quiet and quick to react on the water.

Despite a more pronounced central draft to help pump onto the foil and get going earlier, it is not overwhelmingly powerful and behaves extremely well. The new V5 keeps its flatter profile, making it efficient and fast, with great drive upwind.

The stiffness gained from the one-piece boom and the DP UPE leading edge sections helps to lock that power between the hands, making it super stable, reactive and controllable when sheeted in.

But we don't call it the ultimate surf wing for nothing: when thrown back, it follows automatically with minimal drag, movement or reaction to sharp redirections, allowing you to focus on surfing.

  • Construction

The fifth generation wings use high-performance Code-Tec and Dimension Polyant fabrics which boasts low stretch, high tear strength, exceptional rigidity and the ability to withstand repeated furls.

  • Details

Separate air valves allow to easily pump the strut and leading edge to different pressures. Wing tips are reinforced. Stiff front handle features a neoprene scuff for comfort and control when surfing.

  • Accessories

The Wing Dings come with a comfortable and ergonomic backpack with multiple pockets and straps that's big enough to fit your wing, your pump, your foil and accessories for an easy walk to the water.
